Wētā Workshop Unleashed is based in Auckland in the SkyCity precinct, Level 5/88 Federal Street, Auckland CBD, 1010 (Opposite the Sky Tower). Collect a car from Omega Rental Cars Auckland and you will be on your way to experience something magical! There are also free car parks available in SkyCity until the end of November when you purchase tour tickets.

Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Auckland

Wētā Workshop Unleashed offers an exciting array of experiences. If you love horror, fantasy and sci-fi, you are in for a special treat. This is a global award-winning guided tour that takes you through the magical wonders of each genre!

This immersivetour explores different areas of movie-making with magical environments, costumes and creatures, hyper-realistic giants, a galactic robot, and much more. Interact with cool stuff like props and set pieces and learn about how Wētā Workshop brings movies to life in this 90-minute tour in the movie genres Wētā Workshop is so well known for!

 

Part One: Horror 

The 90-minute guided experience explores the works behind the horror film Fauna in the animatronics and prosthetics department. Enter this claustrophobic horror film set at your own risk…

 

Part Two: Fantasy 

If you are looking forward to the peaceful and tranquil part of the tour, then you will love exploring the Artists’ Shed, where you can learn about the world-building process and walk through a fantasy diorama.

Part Three: Sci-fi

One of the most exciting parts of this tour is being lucky enough to step onto the film set of the science fiction adventure movie Origins. Witness projected lights play across the tour stage and listen out for the intergalactic soundtrack.
